Thermal Shock
Thermal shock occurs when glass is exposed to rapid, uneven temperature change. This can cause it to stress and crack and for you to lose your beautiful and expertly crafted Madonna Inn goblet.

DOs & DON’Ts to Avoid Thermal Shock
To keep this from happening, keep in mind these few important things: if your goblet is cold — from either being stored in a cool location or from just being washed — DON’T immediately fill it with hot liquids. DO wait a second until your Madonna Inn goblet has been at room temperature long enough to fill it with a hot pot of coffee or tea. The reverse is also true. If your goblet is hot, let it cool down before filling it with ice cold water.
